Patient Restraints and Restraint Alternatives: Closed Mitts (Adult Medical Mitts)

The Closed Mitt listed in the table below is considered less restrictive than our other mitts and can be used as a diversionary device:

• Polystyrene bead filling provides tactile stimulation for patient
• Padding on one side of mitt
• Polyester material
• Hook-and-loop fastener (press to apply, peel to release)

The Closed Mitt listed in the table below is considered more restrictive than our other mitts:

• Fiber-filled padding on both sides of the mitt
• Soft cloth that is gentle on patient’s skin
• Hook-and-loop fastener (press to apply, peel to release)
• Strap included to help prevent the patient from removing the mitt (SKU 2809)

Model-specific features associated with one or both of the Closed Mitts listed in the next table include:

• Mesh on one side of the mitt for extra breathability and a full view of the patient’s hand at all times; fiber-filled padding on the other side of the mitt
• Hook-and-loop fastener (press to apply, peel to release)
• Finger separators to help control/limit finger movement (a somewhat more restrictive option, this is our most popular Closed Mitt)
• Strap compatibility to help prevent the patient from removing the mitt (straps either included or sold separately; SKU 2809)
